Rainbow colours promote children's development

Colour brings variety into our lives and make the world a little lovelier! You can learn about why that's especially important for children in the first year of their lives and why small foot makes the youngest children so happy with wooden toys in cheery rainbow colours here.

Promote vision development with colours

Shortly after birth, children are already interested in their surroundings even though they can't see very clearly until they're about eight months old. Although their vision is blurry and they have almost exclusively a preference for faces, babies can recognise and differentiate colours more and more in their second and third months. Studies have shown that babies can see all basic colours after three months. Blue is the last colour to be seen – the S-cones in their eyes needed to see this colour are the last to develop – while the colour red is babies' first favourite colour, which can be explained by their perception of this colour during pregnancy when looking at Mum's blood-filled abdominal wall. It's important to note that babies react particularly strongly to contrasting colours and shapes and bright primary colours pique their interest a lot! That's why brightly coloured wooden toys are especially suited for stimulating the brain and children's vision development in this important time.

Rainbow toys made of wood

That's why small foot offers classic toys in luminous colours of the rainbow! After all, what better way to bring colour into the nursery than with cheery, brightly coloured rainbow toys made of wood?

The new favourites in the nursery range from noise-making marble runs and shape-fitting games to wooden building blocks, from shape-fitting cubes to bead mazes, and from stacking games and rainmakers to baby walkers: the colourful variety combined with the environmentally sustainable material of wood really is a true hit!

Promote children's development easily with colourful wooden toys

With the targeted use of colours, children's psyches can be influenced and healed while their development is supported. The human eye consists of three different kinds of receptors which react very differently to the colours red, blue, and green in light incidence. What's interesting is that a reaction to colours seen also takes place in the body. That means that people's physical reactions to colours are basically the same and have nothing to do with what a person "thinks" about a colour. Colours cause certain feelings even in young children because every colour has a specific frequency and energy which is transmitted into the human body. For adults, it's enough to simply imagine the colour with their inner eye.

🔴 Red causes feelings of excitement and warmth and promotes vitality and activity
🔵 Blue causes feelings of calm and coolness and promotes reserve and introversion
🟢 Green is the most balancing and calming colour and promotes hope
🟡 Yellow is cheerful and bright and promotes an awake mind, courage, knowledge, and intellect
🟠 Orange has a signalling effect and promotes warmth and an open serenity
🟤 Brown / Wood is the colour of earth.

The right mixture is the key:

That's why wooden toys in rainbow colours don't just look stylish – they also make kids really happy!
